  • Fatality rate of people of all ages reached a moderate level of 0.8, meanwhile the deathrate of those over 60 was 3.7, quite high on the scale of severity. This shows that older individuals, especially those over the age of 60 are more likely to die as a result of being infected with Covid-19.

  • However, those over 60 were less likely to get infected in the first place, as the graph shows. Only recently did infection rates even out across age groups. This might be the case due to older people taking more measures to prevent infection. Vaccination rates in Harrow also reflect that.

  • As the table shows, people over 60 are overrepresented in the vaccine uptake in comparison to other age groups.

  • At the start of the pandemic, Harrow was amongst the leading regions in terms of fatalities, over three times the national average.

  • Overall, Harrow is among the regions with most Covid-19 mortalities in the country at a rate of 115 per 100,000.

  • There were more Covid-19 deaths in London than in any other part of the country, fact which also made Harrow’s high mortality rate more likely.
